So far, my blogging experience has ranged from being fun and exciting to extremely frustrating. Initially I found the whole idea of creating a blog and regularly updating it very daunting, not to mention time-consuming. I couldn’t help but wonder how I was going to complete the modules for 2 subjects, do all the required readings, keep up with Flickr, Twitter, Second Life, Delicious, Linked In, Facebook as well as explore other websites for useful sources of information to contribute to my blog. Luckily after creating accounts and experimenting with all of these social media tools, it became easier to keep track of them all, and these sites along with some carefully chosen RSS feeds provided me with good sources of information to keep my blog going.
One of the major difficulties I had with my blog was uploading images and ensuring the creative commons license and coding were included with the details of the creator and the link back to the original image. This was mainly troublesome because the text of my posts refused to wrap around the image, but after some minor changes to the HTML, I was able to incorporate images easily into all of my posts.
By continually posting on my blog I have been able to reflect on a lot of different media tools and contribute my thoughts and experiences from using them into one place. It has also been great for seeing just how much I can do with a blog such as incorporating Tag clouds, Flickr photos, Twitter feeds, and even music. Overall, I feel that blogging has been a great experience for learning more about social networking tools.
